The wonderous Impacted feces

Recommended Posts

I'm 3+ months out and I still have bouts of this painful situation. Far from the taking any opioids period. I've been tempted to eat a Big Mac to clean the pipes (calm down I'm just kidding). Truly this was one new thing I wasn't expecting to experience.

I live in the Middle East and we have real toilet on the floor. Like the squatters potty. It's a real toilet hole n the ground. Many countries have these except for America. If u ever build a house install one of these. I only use these when out n malls. No need to sit on another's pee. U just squat

**TMI alert***

Guys, this is super embarrassing but I need to know. I am at day 7 and while constipated for the past few days, today I've been dealing with impacted fecal matter that will not say bye. For a play by play, there have been 7 rounds and it's currently 7 feces - 0 me.

The surgeon has told me to to take dulcolax to try to fight it, but it's been 7 hours, and I have gone a few times only to have some spurts of loose motion, but the impacted matter is killing me and not exiting.

Did anyone else experience this? Or similar. I was feeling so much better but the flexing of my core during the episodes have left me very lower energy.

Best,

Sanju

The past 3 weeks I have seen my weight on the scale go up despite maintaining low cal intake.. I am not a big Water drinker, but since I don't eat very much in vegies, I can see why we get backed-up so to speak..

now getting back to the past 3 weeks, I saw the number go up as much as +7lbs which I knew was not fat, but feces (waste, poop, Mr. Hanky)... so I altered my food intake a bit.. switched to Beans, got some fruit in, drunk some fairlife, added back a Protein shake.. and I would release maybe one or 2 times every 2-3 days, small fries so to speak.. but I knew there was a big boy up there I wanted to get out...

At my job I take stairs, walk around and while I do sit a lot, when I am up i am moving.. I bowl also and play tennis..nothing made this giant brownie move down low enough I could expel it from my black hole..

then one day I has a fruit smooth at work...rumble rumble, blurp blurp, usually i get nervous when that happen because it means something not so solid is about to pass, but this time I was elated, I was almost skipping to the bathroom.. and when I got there.. ohhh my sweet Columbus,, it was magical.. i heard music.. and had to flush twice.. I left something massive in my employers bathroom and if anyone saw it, they would have called in a psychologist, pathologist and dinosaur hunter.

it took the better most of 3 weeks to get that out.. and I did not lose the 7+ pounds, i got 4 back.. but since then pooping more regular..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
