kmorri 1,689 Posted April 18, 2016 @@Lucilla I haven't had my surgery yet......but weight loss is different based on lots of things......your starting weight makes a huge difference. The more over weight you are the more you loose initially.....Also, your diet just prior to surgery makes a big difference. If you were on a liquid diet you probably lost quite a bit during that time so you wouldn't see a big difference right after surgery. My advice is to just keep doing what your medical team tells you, and the weight will come off. If you have been doing anything outside of what your medical team prescribed stop it now and stick to the plan. You really can't compare with others because too many things impact the process on different folks. Good luck! Kathy
BelgianGuy 350 Posted April 18, 2016 It depends from person to another, when I told my surgeon I had lost 30 pounds in one month he was impressed and said it might even be a bit too fast. It now has slowed down I lose 3 to 4 pounds a week, but I always have been a fast loser whenever I tried dieting (also a pretty fast "gainer" everytime I stopped). tracywag 27 Posted April 18, 2016 I lost 35lbs before surgery, and did not experience a very fast weight loss after. It would be half a lb for several weeks, then 5 and once, then nothing.... It was frustrating but the weight did come off. And I didn't lose hair or look so dramatically different so quickly that people thought I was ill. Follow your plan and try not to compare yourself too much, it will drive you nuts.
Christinamo7 4,042 Posted April 18, 2016 if you are loosing more than a pound a day I wonder what your expectations were? That's quite a lot. it will probably slow down. that's ok. just follow the plan and it will come off.
theladyslipper 120 Posted April 20, 2016 Also remember that you have swollen tissue & that you are still recovering from a kinda big surgery! It will happen. Relax & see where the journey takes you!

Denab 5 Posted April 20, 2016 I was told by my doctor that the first six weeks is all about filling the stomach that your body is in Starvation mode that's why you're not losing any weight he said that after the liquid part of the diet I would be on a thousand 1200 calorie diet and then the weight would start falling off. ammartin247 2 Posted April 20, 2016 @@Lucilla I am now six weeks post op, I had my one month post op visit with the surgeon and I asked him "about a ballpark average" how much weight should I be Tryin to lose each month. He said a normal range ol would be 10-20 pounds per month. He said that depends on how much exercise and Water you are drinking. And obviously NOT eating more than the 1/4 cup serving of food at a time as it will stretch your tummy. Best of luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
