you'd have to ask your insurance .. I think if it is medically needed u shouldn't have to pay if your ins covered the sleeve

May 2nd is soooo close! Just had my pre admission testing done. Now just counting down the days. Clear liquids day before. Treating myself to a pedicure and getting my nails done French (I have acrylic nails need to be clear color) maybe even get a facial! How's everyone doing? Anyone else having surgery on the 2nd? Am I the first loser of the May group?

I'm May 2nd too! I'm getting really excited and nervous and excited ;) I should treat myself to a pedicure too! It would probably relax me a bit. This is my first surgery under general anesthesia. I'm never to sure how I will be, but I had c-section and this surgery is less evasive...so I'm hoping recovery will be easier! How are you doing on the pre-op diet?

Looks I could be May. Passed my psych evaluation and now it will go to insurance. If I get approved in time, looks like surgery by end of May.

I'm doing better than I thought. Being able to have the lean Protein and veggies meal has helped so much. I look forward to cooking dinner. Been chewing food really well and not drinking while eating to practice for after surgery. Good luck to you! How are you doing?

@Fabfemale. I'm nervous about the anesthesia because I always get really sick but I'm hoping and praying for the best this time around. My pre-op has not been bad but I still feel hungry how about you?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
