Today is post op day 3 for me and I feel, almost like nothing has happened. Still a little sore in my abdomen but thats about it. The drain is annoying, and no longer having the dump it very much. It comes out in 4 more days. I am still on liquids but sliding in some "heavier" things periodically. Mostly stuff like mashed potatoes or something like that that I can easily thin down. I am trying to get in as much Water and Protein as possible, but occasionally I want something filling that tastes good.

Most people suffer from nausea, vomiting, and acid reflux after surgery and I suppose I can consider myself lucky because I have not dealt with any of those, what so ever. The only issue I had was gas pain, mostly in my left shoulder. It was horrible! The best thing that I found to help was chewable gas x and tums. Took 2 days to work the gas out but walking definitely helped.

I am curious, how long did it take you guys to get back to a "normal" diet (normal sleeved diet)? I love cooking, and I love cooking healthy foods. I feel like I am having withdrawals from being in there cooking. However, it seems pointless to get in there and whoop something up that I cannot have. Oh well, soon enough I will be back to my routine!

I was on clears and then full liquids for 3 weeks. Mashed were my first food after that point. At about 3 months things normalize. At 6 months I felt as if my stomach could handle whatever I wanted albeit in a small amount. And just because I thought I could handle it though doesn't mean that I ate it. My sleeve still has a very strong preference for fresh whole healthy home cooked food. It doesn't really like processed food although it seemed to tolerate a bagel pretty well last week but I am not going to make that into a habit.

I have had a lot of Soup (clear broth) and thinned yogurt, even some thinned pudding. I am having to get adjusted to the new feelings and determining the difference in "full" and "slow down its not a race." No matter how hard I try to slow down and take my time, I usually feel like I have a block somewhere between my throat and my stomach, but if I relax a bit and swallow, it goes away. It's definitely new.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
