bigmamaAfrica 49 Posted April 17, 2016 Evening all, I'm a few weeks post op, was sleeved on March 30 and I've been struggling to meet the Water target. Just wondering if i can count the Water i use to mix the Protein shakes towards the target. My doctor wants me to take up to 2L daily! - i looked at him like he was high when he said that. Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted April 17, 2016 Yes, I do. Any non-caffeinated Fluid counts toward my total (including crushed ice and sugar-free Popsicles).

Mrios00 3 Posted April 17, 2016 Hi bigmamaAfrica, I also had mine done on the 30th. I was told NO you cannot count the Water from Protein against Water count. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Leah Mosier 0 Posted April 17, 2016 My nutritionists insists that the protien shakes do NOT count toward your daily Water goal. We have to drink 8-10 oz. of water before and after each shake three times per day.
OzRoo 1,492 Posted April 17, 2016 I struggle now to get 8 glasses of Water (not a problem prior WLS). I have a 700 ml Water Sipping flask/container, and I measure my water intake with this. I also count my diluted juices, Decaf coffee, herbal tea towards my Fluid intake. So, I do get my quota of liquids all up. With all the restrictions, sipping, no fluids 30 mins before and after meals, it is impossible for me to get the standard 8 glasses of water in. I was dehydrated only once, about 10 days post op. Hasn't happened since.
csawesome 181 Posted April 18, 2016 My team says only clear fluids count (but you can count Protein Jello and Isopure clears) toward both. I get my fluids in, but its a struggle. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
ocgirl15 667 Posted April 18, 2016 I could count shakes, Popsicles, tea and sugar free Jello toward my Water goal.
cookarue 233 Posted April 18, 2016 Any liquid counts towards my "water" goal as per my nutritionist.

Lisa_85 118 Posted April 18, 2016 My Nut told me NO. I wish I could because I only get in about 32oz of Water on a good day! I'm not a big drinker at all.

JupiterinVirgo 846 Posted April 20, 2016 I'm not a huge "counter quote but the fact is that your body pools Water out of anything you ingest that has water in it, including fruit and vegetables, coffee, tea etc. However the metabolic process for using the water that is in the other things, like Protein Shakes, is different than when you drink plain water by itself.
