Dr. Clayton Frenzel Dallas/Plano

Recommended Posts

I had a VSG on 12/28. My doctor has an outreach office in Texarkana TX, closer to me than his Dallas office so that is where I had my pre-op visits. Surgery went fine and I was released the next day and drove back to northern AR where we live. We set an appointment for 1 month later for follow-up. The day of the appointment I could not travel to Texarkana due to inclement weather. I called his office, left VM asking for another appointment the next time he was there (every second Saturday) but never got a callback. I called again and spoke to an office assistant and was promised a call back, again nothing. As I have had no complications at all, I was not too concerned but after having several episodes of neuropathy/paresthesia of the tongue I called again to see if there might be a connection (B-12 deficiency is isted as a possible cause though I do not have the other symptoms and take 3500 units sublingual each week); spoke to someone in his office; we got cut off- so I tried again and only got VM which I left. Nada, sent a email contact thru his website, and again, nothing.

WTF? I am now 4 months post-op and have never seen him for follow-up. W even discussed having my umbilical hernia repaired after sufficient weight loss. I have lost almost 100 lbs and cannot say enough about his surgical skills as I have not had any complications at all and seemingly have healed completely, I still question my relationship with a Doctor whose office staff at least seems so incompetent at simple office protocol.

Ideas?

Well that stinks! I hate when doctors have incompetent office staff. Have you called tried to call his Dallas office and make a stink about not getting a call back? I had post-op labs at 3 months (but I had bypass with a different dr so not sure if it is same with sleeve). I would think SOMEONE would want to see you by now. I would keep calling AND I would complain. Send an email or leave a review for him somewhere on the internet (other than just this site) and you are likely to get a response. In fact, he always pops up as a "Featured Surgeon" on my computer on this site. Hopefully others who used him can weigh in. If you don't see him soon, I would think maybe a follow up with your local PCP might be a good idea.

Finally got a hold of the doctor and got an appointment. Saw him last week and everything is good. Still wondering what's up with his office staff.

As long as the billing staff is as inept as the appointment staff, and they never send me a bill...I am good :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
