Alcohol and drugs after surgery

Recommended Posts

Please don't judge me but I enjoy my beer and marijuana and occasionally cocaine in very small doses. I'm a very social person and I have a lot of friends and we like to have a good time. I know that my alcohol intake will change dramatically but if I do a little Coke or smoke some weed, how will this effect my new stomach and my tolerance. This is a very serious question so please be understanding. Thank you everyone

I know that but it's easier said than done, it's been part of my life for over 20 yrs. I know I have to stop but what about those weak times where you cave

The first sentence of the post was not to judge- and the first response was just that. If you don't have something to contribute to the convo then don't post at all.

In response to the original post, I have been asking the same question myself. I am 3 weeks post op on Monday. I haven't done anything but I am going to give myself 3 months for alcohol and 3 months for weed too. I just will need to control the munchies and drink Water instead which won't harm your stomach if you haven't eaten cause it will run straight through you. As for the coke, I'm going to a festival next month and will be doing some uppers probably Molly/E I think I'll be fine if I stay hydrated but I'll let y'all know.

Thank you very much miss_smiles! It's a serious question. I'm nervous because I've been used to a certain lifestyle and that's all going to change. I love going to concerts and just enjoying myself because I work very hard during the week to unwind on the weekends. I am not an addict by any means but sometimes it's around and I like to have a good time. I want to know what my limitations are. Thank you

I hope some people associate with this issue. I tried googling it but it didn't give many answers. I don't really feel comfortable asking my doctor about this issue so that is why I posted it here, hoping I'd get some feedback. Thanks so much everyone

I'm not judging you I'm concerned that something might happen ur body is not going to be the same ur tolerance is going low u could over dose and many other things could go wrong ur health should be the reason ur doing the surgery!! To stay heathy, I quit drugs 18 years ago drinking 7 years ago and finally smoking 8 month ago. It could be done after the surgery focus on getting heathy. Find new friends that don't drink maybe ur friends will help u by not drinking and smoking.

I think having wls is a lifestyle . and with that, your other lifestyle has to change with it. Choices, good, bad, or indifferent, has to coisign with the new lifestyle. Moderation has always been the best for anything, and along with wls, it definite. Your choice to do wls is the same choice you make to drink or use. It shouldn't be an excuse because you work hard and that is your excuse to use. The big picture should be what you want for your life. And when you use, you lose a little of that life you are trying to change. I wish you good luck in your journey with positive choices to keep your new lifestyle healthy. ????

I wouldn't have the sleeve if you can't see it as a permanent lifestyle change. I won't ever have coca cola again, and lets face it, at points in my life I was pretty addicted.

This is worth giving it up, and I hope you will come to the same conclusion. I have no idea how those things might affect your post sleeve body. certainly something to discuss with your doctor, I'd think.

I have not done cocaine in over 3 years and don't plan to. I do drink and smoke pot from time to time though. It's more of a general question. I appreciate any and all comments

I would take this life changing surgery and really change your life in all aspects. No judgement here. All habits are hard to kick, food included. It's very important to be upfront and honest with your Dr. as he would know how those substances could effect you after surgery. I wish you the best of luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
