You know what I'm excited for?

Recommended Posts

I'm just starting this process but there are SO MANY things I am so excited to be able to and feel once I've accomplished my surgery and weight loss.

I'm excited to cross my legs again. I'm excited to stand for long periods of time without my feet feeling like they're going to EXPLODE. (I'm an RN at a busy dialysis center.) I'm excited to goto the amusement parks and not worry about fitting into ANY ride. I'm excited to just feel pretty again. I'm excited to have energy for my two little boys and not just plop down on the couch after 16 hours of work. I'm excited to not feel self conscious. I'm excited to see the looks on people's faces I haven't seen in a long time once I've transformed. I'm excited to go shopping. I'm excited to buy jeans and not live in black sweat pants. I'm excited to take my first ride on a plane. (Totally have been avoiding this) I'm excited to take selfies.. (let's face it.... You know you want to.) I'm excited to actually want to be in a family picture. I'm excited for energy.

I'm just thankful I've decided to go through this process though people tell me it's the way way out. (What're they thinking anyhow!?)

Hooray for upcoming excitement :)

I sat down and made a list A- Z of why I wanted to do this. I showed by psych, my NUT, and my program RN. They all thought it was great and may suggest it to others. It's got a lot of non-health goals mixed in, like zip lining and cute clothes along with the he obvious health ones.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
