Good Morning!

Well I just heard back from Dr. Bishop's office to let me know that AGAIN, Dr. Yau has not replied to Dr. Bishop's requests for a meeting.

The receptionist said Dr. Bishop is trying as he knows there are a bunch of us in Ottawa who would like to get filled locally.

I say we 'band' together and we all contact Dr. Yau DIRECTLY. Basically let's pepper the clinic with requests that Dr. Yau contact Dr. Bishop.

Even if you plan on ALWAYS going back to the clinic for fills, defills, what have you. Please help us who want to have someone who (from all reports) knows how to do fills and is a great weight loss support beyond that as well.

I've been somewhere else in locally for a defill. It was not a pleasant experience and I have the MARK to prove it!

email: info@tlbc.ca and address it to Dr. Yau

Call: 800.409.8151 and leave messages asking to speak to Dr. Yau himself

Let's get the support we need for those emergency defills or whatever!

Dr. Bishop wants to be sure he is approved by Dr. Yau, let's get him approved!

(Can you hear the rally call tone of my voice? ;-)

Hi! my name is Madeleine and would like to find out if this site is still alive. I noticed that the last post was in 2007. If there is anyone out there with whom I can chat about bariatric surgery, I will gladly welcome the feedback.:wink2:

Hi Madeleine,

The last post was this past Summer, I think you were seeing my join date.

No matter the case, welcome and good for you for seeking us out.

I haven't been on this site in a while so I don't know if maybe there are other threads for the Ottawa area started that might be more active but there is a Yahoo Group that is very active specifically for the Ottawa area.

We meet regularly in varying numbers about once a month and chat on the group daily with food logs and support.

Please feel free to join up there as well. OttawaBandsters : Ottawa Bandsters Unite!

You may have to join Yahoo itself before you can join the group but I promise you you'll get lots of support from our 30+ members.

No matter what you decide, all the best in your Band Journey.

Nan

Hi, I am from Ottawa, and have had my Band also done in Toronto. I was done in December 2007. I have lost 65lbs, but have slowed somewhat. I'm looking for a support group meeting in Ottawa, does anyone know of any? Preferably west end, I live in Bells Corners, I heard of one meeting at the Second Cup in Bells Corners, is that still meeting?

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

ArleneF

Hi fellow Ottawa bandsters. I was banded by Dr. Ortiz in Mx in July, and see Dr. Bishop for fills--7.3 cc's so far. I dont feel enough restriction to achieve my weight loss yet. I lost 16 pounds on liquids during the first 3 weeks, and not much since then.

I am looking for any advice people have about that "sweet spot". And does anyone get together for support meetings or exercise?

Good luck.

Hi everyone!

I'm new to Ottawa and my surgery date is THIS FRIDAY (April 16th) so I'm just checking in on the group to say hello and introduce myself and say hello to all of you. So, hello.)

If there are any plans for meet-ups or coffees (if I'm allowed coffee!) please keep me posted!

V.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
