Had a successful sleeve yesterday morning. I've been dealing with Nausea and gas bloat pain that radiates all over. I actually threw up a few minutes ago. Has anyone else thrown up post surgery

yes and it sucks. I am convinced it depends on altitude. I only puke when I am in Colorado. I am in OKC most of the time, so a major change from 250' to 12000' has an effect on my diaphragm. ;-)

Yes that was the worst time for me but I can't express how important it is to walk. Walking will move that gas around and eventually you will pass gas and belch. Trust it's a great feeling. But walking is the key as for volmiting it happens and it is trial and error. Trust me you will be more aware of what your not ready for. Walk walk walk

Vomiting is VERY common after surgery. Did you get sent home with medication for nausea? Use it!

Keep your sips small, a lot of us have the issue with vomiting if we eat too fast - and that includes liquids.

Finally, I know it's the weekend, but if you get concerned, call your surgeon. Somone is always on call 24/7.

Besides the walk-walk-walk, the other mantra to repeat is to consume small amounts, consume them slowly, stop at the first feeling of fullness, and for any foods, chew-chew-chew.

You have had roughly 85% of your stomach removed, so it's not "just" that your portions should be cut in half, they should be cut by 3/4 or more...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
