Just a quick question guys, did you guys sleep flat or elevated once you were released home?

I'm on day 3 and have been sleeping a bit elevated.

I have had to take over my parents stiffer bed since coming home since my tempurpedic (oh how I miss you) is just to soft.

I slept flat with no issues, however I was told if I had any issues with reflux, slight elevation would help. Thank goodness I didn't. My biggest struggle was not being able to sleep on my stomach, and just trying to turn over somewhat comfortably. Three weeks out I still have a little soreness if I twist the wrong way, but other than that it's back to normal. Congratulations on your surgery. It's definitely an adjustment, but a good one at that.

I slept in the recliner in the living room for a week. It was just more comfrotable and the doc said it would help with the gas relocation pain. One positive, it kept the cats from jumping right on top of my sutures!

I slept pretty much the same, except that I had a pillow infront of my stomach. Just in case I coughed or hubby was moving around.

The hard part was sitting up.

I realized that quickly and learned to roll to my side and push to a sitting position while my legs were hanging over the side of the bed.

I have a tempurpedic too, but mine in pretty firm. I did my post-op in a 25' RV because we were completing our house.

I slept flat on my back or either side the first 3 nights in a hotel bed and then finally back in my waterbed ....aaahhhhh. Took 2 weeks before I could sleep on my tummy cause I was just so bloated.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
