Just for fun - where does the fat go?

Recommended Posts

Into the air apparently! I earned a C- in chemistry in high school so this was news to me.

I suppose it makes for a nice meditation. Every time you exhale, you're breathing a little bit of that nasty fat out of your body.

I think about this a lot while I'm swimming and focusing on my breathing. It is pretty fun. :P

LOL. I read this a while back, and thought it was terribly interesting.

This is my favorite quote:

Yes, we exhale lost fat. There it helps plants photosynthesize (if you're feeling noble) and contributes to global warming (if you're feeling guilty).

Great, now they are going to blame WLS for global warming and the government is going to ban it. ;-(

Ah, but then they'll compare the amount of carbon dioxide that's produced per pound of fat and compare it to the amount of corn products we needed to consume to STAY fat and I'm willing to bet our personal carbon footprint will reduce our individual contributions to climate change, making us greener citizens!

Science :)

But, what about the fact that the obese die earlier and therefore leave a smaller carbon footprint. You have to take that into consideration: Politically Correct SCIENCE ;-)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
