Help! I look pregnant

Recommended Posts

Two weeks before my lapband surgery, I started the pre-op diet and lost ten pounds. I had surgery two and a half weeks ago and since then have lost another fifteen. I'm thrilled w/those results, BUT I have so much swelling in my stomach that I look nine months pregnant.

I had my post-op check-up a couple of days ago and the doctor was not concerned in the least, even though he hadn't heard of this happening. Has this happened to anyone else...and if so, when does it go away? I have NOTHING to wear, and what DOES fit is painful because the skin across my entire abdomen is very sensitive (he did have a response to that).

If you're 'gassy' then take some Gas-X 4x a day for a few days...that should help immensely!

I'm not sure if this is gas or some other form of bloat, but yesterday I had a very gassy day, and this morning, one of the pairs of pants I couldn't close yesterday, fit. I'll buy some Gas-X today...thanks for the advice.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
