secondchance_tx 14 Posted April 14, 2016 Hey guys... My band removal has been approved by my insurance due to a leak and I'm thrilled!! However I'm going to have to pay out of pocket for the actual surgery and surgeon fees (Bariatrics isn't covered by my insurance plan) The hospital said they can't tell me how much I will end up paying cos it depends on insurance and benefits. Should I expect that since I have to get sedated for the band removal that insurance will at least cover anesthesia? Anything else insurance will cover for the removal? Also, what's the best route in terms of paying for it? Care credit? Private loan? I've done all the necessary steps and don't want to give up but it's A LOT of money. Thanks for your help in advance! UsernameTaken 283 Posted April 14, 2016 It really depend on insurance, but I would think since they approved the removal and it would be surgical procedure so I would expect anesthesiologist would be covered, you would most likely have to pay for copay for surgeon, anesthesiologist, hospital (at least this is what I am expecting to pay) I really like care credit, you can do 18 months free financing which is awesome. secondchance_tx 14 Posted April 14, 2016 Okay. That's what I was expecting. The surgeon fees are a flat 10,200 and the of course the actual hospital/RNY surgery.. I'm expecting about 21k after all completed. We'll see. And I'll look into Care Credit! Thanks for insight my friend! UsernameTaken 283 Posted April 14, 2016 Yeah that's definitely lots of $ So are you doing revision at the same time or just removal?
secondchance_tx 14 Posted April 14, 2016 Revision. If they have to take it out, they may as well stay a little longer and help me fight my obesity, right?! Are you having a revision? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
UsernameTaken 283 Posted April 14, 2016 I am having a revision, but mine is approved by my ins. I started out the same way, just wanted to get the band out but I figured well might as well see if they will approve revision as well. Hope it will go well, the closer it gets to it the more nervous I get.
