Yayyy! Band in place!

Recommended Posts

Just been banded... Well 9am this morning and was discharged about 2.30.

I have a terribly dry mouth and it feels like I've had a hard an work out lol. Actually the worst pain I'm feeling is burps because of the gas they filled me with. I'm so surprised I'm up and about so quickly!

How did people sleep in the eve- propped up or lying down flat? Excited for the start of my journey :-)

I just slept normal but I've heard of many people sleeping in a recliner for a few days.

The gas they fill you with is in your body cavity and not your stomach. Gives them room to move around. It may take a few weeks to get rid of it.

slept in my recliner and it has electric recline so it was nice to get up and out of. take it easy, drink as much as you can, use a heating pad on your shoulder pain and don't worry about eating or anything just get better. It was about a week or so before I felt kinda normal. it's been over 3 years so it's hard to remember but I am still happy that I did it.

Best of luck to you.

Hiccups are normal now and in the future. I've never heard of hiccups causing a slip. Vomiting can cause a slip though.

Yeah, every doctor has their own cans and cannots. All I can do is tell you from my personal experience or what I've read here on this site. Your doctor knows your history and knows your body so it's always good to obey his/her rules till you get the hang of the band later on.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
