I don't know why I love spicy food, but I do. I travel with Gas X strips & usually don't have any problems, but I'm only 3 months out & haven't tried a lot w/ my new sleeve. So, yesterday I had some pineapple & jalepeno hummus w/ sugar snap peas--maybe 2 Tablespoons at the most and it lit me up. Thought I wasn't going to make it. Will I now be sensitive to spicy foods?? Anybody got experience w/ this topic who has been sleeved for a while???

I was at first but I'm almost a year out and can eat slice jalepenos without any problem. So just give it time.

Same! I absolutely loved spicy food, but now even at 9 months out it makes me nauseous. Such a shame, because cajun and mexican spices are so delicious, but what can ya do? I've learned not to resent my sleeve, even when it does annoying stuff like ruin jambalaya for me ;)

Almost 5 months out. Love(d) spicy food, but can't do it without paying the price now. If I really want it, I eat a couple of tums before my meal and that helps. I also find I can't handle raw onions anymore without horrible heartburn. That's been an adjustment as they show up in everything!

:(

I am only 6 weeks out, so I am still eating pretty cautiously, but I am not eating blandly. Salt, ground red & black pepper, herbs, sauteed garlic and onion in moderation all seem to be okay, and I have even had some mild chili pepper paste as a conditment (sambal manis) with some Indonesian chicken satay (shish kabob) I made, and that was okay. So far, no issues, but I am not looking for the limits, either, just trying to keep things a little bit interesting.

Yes! Someone please say it gets better. I'm from West Texas and spicy food is the only way I know how to eat. My pouch has been a cranky SOB since surgery and I'd hate to have to give my Texan card because I can't eat Mexican food or real bbq.

Fire in the hole!!!! whoooo I should have waited until month 4th or 5th butt nooooo my "blankity-blank-blank" just had to have thai food after I was cleared for all food types.. I tell you, there are sometimes in your life when you wish you had listened, I thought I was going to to have to go to the ER because my tummy would not stop burning.. for you Anime fans...nine-tails was in my stomach having a party with Orichimaru...

all I could do was lay in the bed and turn from left to right, eventually I fell asleep and 3hrs later it was much better or so I thought... remember I started off this post with "Fire in the hole"... well after the party in my tummy (dj lance) I had to go drop the kids off at the pool... Ohh sweet goat gods...that was the worst bathroom exit experience I have had with spicy food ever... I don't know what my sleeve added to the digestive process but my rear was not happy with me...

I can say now, I can handle thai and spicy salsa without issue, but I think I tried my luck a little early at 10weeks post-op..

The end.. :)

so far, I am not having any issues with spicy food.

I don't either.....usually.

I guess we are lucky that way.

I'd hate to give up on hot sauces and spicy rubs.

I don't know about you - but with so much junk removed from my diet I am enjoying the spicy, complex flavors even more now than I did before. I love to play with food, and add a little of this or that to make an old recipe more flavorful.

If it tells you anything, I planted Dragon Cayennes and Habaneros this weekend :D

I keep a big bottle of Sriracha at work and home too. My favorite though is wasabi. That stuff is like a little bomb, and then it just goes away after it sears your sinuses shut for a few seconds.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
