When to get surgery

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I'm probably counting my eggs before thy hatch, but I want a Tummy Tuck but I'm only 24 and at some point I would like to have kids. Is it crazy to wait for a tummy tuck until after I have kinds way off in the distant time? I don't want to get a nice new tummy then stretch it out again. Anyone else have a similar experience or thoughts? I also want to get other work done, so I could do that and wait on the tummy just seeing what others have done.

Personally, I'd wait until after having kids to do a Tummy Tuck (unless loose skin is causing you pain or rashes). My post-partum belly looked like a deflated balloon for a few months after I gave birth. It sorted itself out, but with slender women (which you are now - congratulations!) there's usually a little pooch that doesn't go away. After all you've gone through already I'd wait to get that taken care of so you don't get disappointed later on, you know? If your belly skin is already stretched out from previous obesity, pregnancy won't make it worse.

Just my 2 cents - never had surgery but I have been pregnant so... there you go.

There is no way I would commit the time OR money to having a Tummy Tuck, knowing I was not done having children! I am not having my tummy tuck until December, but I did have brachioplasty and breast augmentation this past December and don't get my wrong, it was not like I was dying, but I certainly would not want to go through it again, not to mention it cost me $11,000!

That's one of my concern will I need to have any type of tuck surgery. I am 5'4 255 lbs. I wonder if I will have a lot of loose skin.

I am 25 and will have kids some time in the distant future. But now 1.5 years out from my sleeve, i have quite a bit of extra skin. I have thought about this for a long while now. I have decided that for me, the extra skin i have from being over 300lb at only 5'4", is much less desirable then that plus a baby pooch, which some women are able to work off, especially if you are preparing your tummy to make that stretch. So for me, im not waiting. Im going to get the body i see in my head now, then have something to work back to after children.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
