What's a good protein drink?

Recommended Posts

I'm just past four weeks out of surgery and I can not get the Protein powders down. They literally gag me. I have unjury, Isopure, Pure Protein, and another one that escapes me right now. My nurse recommended the New whey shots, which I now see aren't the best thing on the market, but at 42g of protein, I'll do them for now. I have to mix them with ice, Water, and Crystal Light to mask the protein smell and flavor, but they don't make me nauseous.

I'm going to try the Syntrax Fuzzy Navel. Has anyone tried it here? I didn't see it mentioned.

Premier vanilla slightly frozen, drink it w/a straw gives me the illusion of a milkshake. I heard they just came out w/ banana and cream flavor, can't wait to try that.

It is AWESOME!! The banana and the chocolate ones are great. Seems my taste for the strawberry has changed. I had one before and really liked it, but now it was just "ok" for me. Seemed a little chalky. I haven't tried the vanilla yet.

Everyone has told me premier. I haven't tried it yet. I found a mix at Vitamin Shoppe that I really like. It's Cookies and cream, and I actually look forward to drinking it. I'm going to BJ'S to see if they have premier there so that I can try it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
