breezy25 69 Posted April 11, 2016 I'm one week post op and have one more week of a clear liquid diet left and then another two weeks of liquids but I can have creamier things. Anyway, all.day.long I'm shoving broths and Water and Popsicles and disgusting clear Protein drinks in my face and I'm full and I don't want anymore! But I have to! My surgeon scolded me for not meeting and/or exceeding the 64 oz minimum so last night I stayed up until 11 pm, tired as hell, to get the fluids in. Please tell me it gets easier! Bufflehead 6,358 Posted April 11, 2016 Yes, it gets easier, I promise.
Daisee68 2,493 Posted April 11, 2016 It does get easier. I'm sort of surprised that he scolded you so early on. I think it is rare for people to get 64 of in at only 1 week post-op. I recall about day 9 or 10 the swelling going down and it becoming a lot easier. Hang in there! Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
breezy25 69 Posted April 11, 2016 I'm so glad to hear that. I'm not discouraged or anything but feeling a little overwhelmed today! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
kaitlynm 335 Posted April 11, 2016 It gets much easier. I work out a lot and I'm surprised how fast and how much Water I can drink while doing that. I can gulp water now at 6 mos out just like I could before the surgery.
Christinamo7 4,042 Posted April 11, 2016 it does! as the swelling goes down you will notice, almost magically, that you can get more in at a time.
SCF2361 4 Posted April 11, 2016 I'm 3 weeks out today and still struggling getting my fluids in, but it's better than the first week and better than last week. Everyone here has been so encouraging and it's helped so much. I think in terms of baby steps and each little accomplishment is one baby step closer to my goal. breezy25 69 Posted April 11, 2016 I'm SO full right now, like uncomfortably so. I just have to take a break. The surgeon was really pressuring me! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

MaeMae 9 Posted April 11, 2016 I'm a week out as of tomorrow - struggling w/ fluids & have major discoloration around a couple incisions. Feeling hunger Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Daisee68 2,493 Posted April 11, 2016 @@MaeMae - Sometimes acid reflux can mimic a hunger feeling. Were you given a PPI or other acid reducer? If so, be sure to take it faithfully. If not, you might contact your surgeon to get one.
MaeMae 9 Posted April 11, 2016 Yes I was given one and taking it. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Daisee68 2,493 Posted April 11, 2016 Well darn @maemae. I was hoping that would be a quick solution for your hunger! As we said above. It should start getting easier soon. Can you have Popsicles? The crunching of that helped me some and it gives u some Fluid. I also ate ice but some say not to do that. Try getting a tiny cup (like a medicine cup) and sip from it every 5 minutes for about an hour and do that several times. Literally set the timer on your phone for 5 minutes and keep sipping. It will help get those funds in until it gets easier . Hang in there!! Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted April 11, 2016 Yes, it gets easier. Keep working on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. You need them for healing. As you heal, the swelling will go down and it will get easier.
