I guess I'm thinking the wipes would be better than a bottle of bleach in your purse. ~Mandy

ssdiva: I can't blame you for being a germaphobe, but remember that there are good bacteria too and their job is to fight off the bad germs. If we kill every germ and bacteria, we are utterly defenseless if a bad germ jumps off something or someone onto us.

My daughter is a germaphobe and it makes her less than enthusiastic about being in public places. It can cripple your life as much as a bad leg can. It can make you a prisoner in your own mind.

My SIL is virtually a recluse and stays within about 2 miles of her home. She won't drive a car, fly on a plane or go to a movie. She's gotten to the point where she just doesn't like people because they can possibly cause her to get the flu or Hepatitis or some other dread disease. She doesn't trust flu shots, or the medical profession. She doesn't want to be exposed to the germs in a doctor's office. The list goes on...

I'm not making light of your medical situation at all. I just see my daughter possibly becoming a recluse and I don't want that for her. I want her to be able to enjoy life and see the beauty in the world. I want the same thing for you!

Green - instead of humming try a small ice cube in your mouth. Or a menthol-based lozenge. Or having contact with something like a massager - hold it under your chin or on the side of your cheek - it will make your whole mouth buzz/vibrate.

And a fiscal Republican who is going to hold the Comptroller's Office does make sense/cents. :rolleyes

ROFLMAO Now that you have mentioned this I am starting to remember that I heard chat about this a longggggggggg time ago. Of course a grrl wouldn't want to spring this on a member of the Viagra set without prior warning unless you were sure that you were definitely written into the will.

DH just reminded me to point out that the lozenge thing is also very nice when used on the female. :whoo:

so i was talking to my DH about where this topic had drifted to and he said with the most earnest straight face i think i have ever seen 'Mentos mints work well too.'

oh reallly?????

I almost died laughing.

Think that might have been a suggestion?

Sonia, tell him that mentos are too sugar loaded, it has to be sugar free. Altoids work great :) ~Mandy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
