Does anyone else feel this way: What if it doesn't work for me?

I too have the band and I am revising to sleeve tomorrow. But I am so paranoid if this is the right thing for me. I had so many issues with the band that it scares me to get the sleeve its permanent. Can you please give me details as far as what you felt and comparison? Thank you

Both are very different and my experience might be different than yours, BUT the restriction feeling is different. With the sleeve, I feel restriction, but without the need of running to the bathroom and throwing up. I'm in the purée/mushy foods so I'm still learning the diet process with the sleeve.

In regards to the band, it should be band! I'm surprise there's still surgeons doing that procedure.

megall9 that's a load of garbage. My friend who is a nurse practitioner said over and over that it wasn't a long term solution. Well you know what? Neither is diet and exercise. Both are what you make of them long term. And frankly I don't know anyone who has kept up with just diet and exercise.

In my head I know it's a load of garbage, but it hurt my heart that she would say something so negative to me when I was obviously excited. She just kind of rained on my parade, you know? It's hard because we've been good friends for over 10 years. Everyone else in my life has been so supportive, and she is the only one in the back whispering "you can't do this"

I guess I'll show her :)

@@Megall9 ... she's wrong. The sleeve's benefits never go away.

However, the sleeve is NOT all that you need.

You're going to have to learn and use a whole new way of living -- and you will, because now you'll have a fighting chance of actually living the healthy and slim lifestyle.

:)

Me too! I've been overweight since I was 9 or 10 and already wth this first stall (3 weeks out) I am dreading that I got sleeved and will still be morbidly obese forever, and that I'll look like an idiot going through all this for nothing.

I'm the same. I'm convinced I'm the oddball case who it won't work for. I'm trying to be extremely honest with myself about my good habits now so that I can not lie to myself about my food habits afterwards. Rebirth!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
