For the love of Scallops !

Recommended Posts

I am loving scallops! Per myfitnesspal one large scallop its 35 calories and 5 grams of Protein. They are beautiful little chunks of Protein and a blank canvas so you can pair them with so many flavors!

My current favorite is garlic and then I use Chardonnay to deglaze the pan and make a light sauce .....

What's your favorite way to make scallops ?

So far I haven't cooked my own, but would like to. Following for ideas and recipes.

So far, the best scallops I have eaten post-op were at a Japanese hibachi restaurant.

I looooooooove scallops but only buy them when they're on sale because they are quite $$

I love the way they taste alone (slightly sweet with a hint of ocean). I cook them in butter and lightly salt/pepper.

I so love seafood with scallops being a top fave. I have pan fried them with some fresh minced garlic, a bit of sea salt and pepper and eaten with a side of homemade salsa. Yum!

Great thread! I LOVE scallops! Yes, they're pricey, so sometimes I buy the frozen bag of larger sea scallops and they aren't as high as fresh ones. I like them seared in the pan with a bit of garlic and then deglaze with either dry sherry, Madeira or white balsamic vinegar. Soooo good.

Great guys, now I'm going to be hankering for scallops...

I like mine salted and peppered, seared, glazed with a pan sauce of brown butter, white wine, shallots, lemon juice and zest, then finished with a sprinkle of fresh flat-leaf parsley. Yum!

I found a recipe on Pinterest for grilled scallops and orange kebabs with a honey ginger glaze. They were wonderful! I'm always a little nervous about over cooking them because they are so expensive, but I got it just right on the grill.

when did you guys start eating seafood, shrimp, scallops lobster is it hard to get down?

And steak too!

I started eating scallops once I was on soft foods. I still eat them frequently because they're easy to get down and they're yummy! I'm 4 months out and still struggle with steak and shrimp. Used to like lobster, can't stand the stuff now. Fish, especially tilapia and halibut, are also frequently on the menu.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
