Nurse_Lenora 903 Posted April 11, 2016 So I am having a hard time trying to figure out where to shop. When you are plus sized your choices are limited and now I don't know where to shop that is cute and trendy but not too young. I definitely don't want to dress like my daughter even if I can fit into her clothes. I have said this before, but this is the fun part of losing this much weight and keeping it off for more than a minute. Agreed! I splurged on j.crew for nicer wear but for every day I hit up Target for clothing I'm ok with shrinking out of and when I shrink out of the j.crew stuff......I will take everything to the tailor to be altered. OKCPirate 5,323 Posted April 11, 2016 For most of my adult life I had a 30" inseam, but I noticed last year that I was stepping on the back of my pants. I was sure my legs didn't shrink. I figured out my butt shrank so much, that I need to get my pants taken up. Who knew? So to get back to the original question, I have found that as you go along you really have to go back to the store and see what your size really is again. 2goldengirl 2,076 Posted April 11, 2016 I spent time this weekend trying on stuff from my "smaller sizes" stash. Fortunately, I have some J. Jill knit things for work that will do me for a while yet before I have to get new things for work. My favorite navy suit fits again, but I'm going to need to take the trousers to the tailor - the cut now seems too wide in the leg (as well as too long). Thank heavens for great tailors! OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted April 12, 2016 I have a friend that lost 200 lbs without surgery and has maintained it for years. The advice they me was as soon as clothes a even a little loos, get rid of them. I don't wear any clothes once they get too big. I get them out of my house ASAP. It is very empowering and motivational. I have always liked my jeans skin tight, even when i was large, so as soon as they get loose they are gone. I had a really nice and expensive lingerie collection that I mourn daily. Lots of nice matching bra and panties in all colors and styles plus lots of naughty lingerie. The lingerie is the most expensive and hardest to replace. My band size keeps changing rapidly. I am single, i am saving a ton on food, plenty to balance spending more on clothes. I think people wearing baggy, loose clothes that don't is a huge mistake. It makes you progress seem slow and you aren't spending time to get to know your new body. KindaFamiliar 3,867 Posted April 12, 2016 Is it possible that all the ladies who, with their new found 'hotness', are buying new clothes (jeans in particular) post some pics? Not for me of course... I'd not be so bold as to suggest such a thing... I'm thinking more about inspiring others to blah blah blah... I guess if the fellas wanted to as well that'd be ok.. But meh... Anyway... What say you ladies?? How about some 'inspiration'?? Yours non-pervily Kinda

mngreeneyes 674 Posted April 12, 2016 I had to go down another size in pants today. It seemed like over night my work pants were suddenly too big and looked sloppy. I had a couple pair of pants that I bought at the consignment store before surgery. They were Lane Bryant size 2. They were on the rack in the size 22 section so I bought them. I hate trying clothes on! Got home and there was no way they were 22s. Does anyone know what size they really are? Lane Bryant doesn't size that way anymore so I can't be sure if they are 18s or 16s. I suspect 16s because my 18s were the ones that got too big, but I'm not positive. Either way, I can put off buying new work pants for at least a couple more weeks, but all of a sudden my "small" clothes are starting to look sloppy and I really need to hit the thrift store this weekend. pam
daniotra 298 Posted April 12, 2016 Unfortunately, they didn't match up very well to sizes. It depended on which style they were. I wore a 26 when those were out, but I could wear a 4(blue circle) very comfortably because they fit my small waist and big hips well. In the red style (square?), I needed a six for my hips and had a huge gap at the back. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
KristenLe 5,979 Posted April 12, 2016 I think 2 were a 16 equivalent (and as @@daniotra mentioned the style made a big difference in fit).
pr_pitbullgrl 1,039 Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) one other thing i will tell you. if you order a dress from china (which i did by accident) an XL is apparently a size 10 there. smh. and even then it's tight! also the quality sucks. like i literally brought a whole nother change of clothes just in case this dress ripped down the middle seam. just an fyi. AnA92212 577 Posted April 13, 2016 It can be frustrating because you buy a size then when you want to wear the new item it is too big. It's great though. I've had to donate several new items to my mom (who actually weighs 30 pounds less than I do, but I am smaller). Love it. She can no longer wear her size 4 pants so I will gladly take those off her hands. She can have my medium tops because I need xsmall or small. For years she has criticized me about my weight so giving her my too big clothes is AWESOME!!
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted April 13, 2016 @@AnA92212 Yeah about clothes not fitting. When I buy clothes now, it has to be something I plan to wear within a week or 2, because who knows if it will fit. Somethings that I really like, I buy in 2 sizes so I wear them longer or I buy the size smaller than I am currently wearing, if I want to wear it the following month for something.
