Thanks. I've lost one pound per day and I couldn't be more ecstatic. Today it hit me for the first time that I can't believe I made this huge life changing decision and that it's done. Finished. There is no turning back so now it's time to suck it up, follow the instructions and make the best of our new lives. My son and husband wanted very starchy, saucy Italian food for dinner. On a typical day I would've had seconds and thirds with loads of bread and Pasta. But today, I wasn't even tempted. It felt so good. Then I told myself, if I was a body builder, athlete, or other health/body conscious person I would not be eating those things anyway so if I don't eat them again, neither do those people. The point is, I'm consciously pushing away the negative thoughts and reinforcing my decision as the right one. The doctor told a lot or most of this is mental so we have to recondition ourselves I suppose. Let's do it together. ????

Did you have high blood pressure or something else that made you decide to do this surgery?

24601, thanks for the support and encouragement. I had my sleeve on Tuesday, 5/10 and I'm home. I feel the same way Idid with my c-sections (heavy in the abdomen with intermittent but bearable pain) so it's nothing that I can't handle. The best part is I'm not hungry at all. For now I'm working to get rid of all the gas. Ugghh. It's so annoying.

@@MCSleeve81 - I do taekwondo, running, and a few high intensity classes at the gym (like Insanity). I was very active before surgery too. I was really worried about having the energy and stamina post-surgery. You know what? I am performing better and my stamina has increased. Turns out losing a ton of weight just makes working out so much easier. :-) I can say I am in the best shape of my life, and I don't just mean being thin. I rock my workouts now! I never could run a mile under 10.5 mins before. Now I am at 9.5 min miles. Loving it.

@@CrissyCakes - I had no comorbidities. Just sick and tired of not being able to keep the weight off.

Good for you to reach your goal, but to be honest your wight wasn't much over.. maybe if you put much effort on exercises and stick to a diet you could reach your goal with no need of surgery.

@@inanc everyone has their own reasons why they get the surgery so be careful about judging their decision. The OP may not have disclosed other reasons.

Just sayin'

This is your 2nd post - what is your story?

24601, thank you so much for your pics and story! I have very similar height, pre-surgery weight and BMI to you. I'm self-funding too. I do strenuous workouts too (and have been concerned about hydrating enough for them, post-surgery). So your recovery and success are thrilling to read and emulate. I have 11 days to go to get my sleeve!

your wight wasn't much over.. maybe if you put much effort on exercises and stick to a diet you could reach your goal with no need of surgery.

Inanc, your comment (that an obese person only needs to diet and exercise to lose weight) is inaccurate and hurtful. Insurance companies may set BMI rules to govern whether they will pay for bariatric surgery, but medical science has concluded that bariatric surgery (some officially the gastric sleeve) will benefit a wide range of obesity levels (and even nonobese diabetics). OP's surgery didn't cost you anything or take away from your own potential success. Why be snarky?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
