Taltyana 6 Posted April 10, 2016 My insurance is UPMC For You and I called the company and they said if your BMI is under 50 then you have to have a supervised diet for 6 months before you're approved (along with all the generic testing). But they said if your BMI is over 50 (which mine is) that you aren't required to have the diet. My question is, has anyone from the UPMC Altoona been in this situation before? Did the surgeons there still want you on a diet plan for a period of time before the surgery? What was your timeline from the seminar to surgery? I assume they're going to at least want a month so they see how I do on a diet and how dedicated I am and to do pre-op stuff, but I'm not sure other than that. My seminar is on April 20th so I'm not expecting to see the doctor until next month. I'm really anxious just to get everything started and have the surgery already. RNY-Gal 40 Posted May 30, 2016 I don't know if you hit your answer orbit but it's a BMI of 55 and over to have no 6 month or Health issues.
Taltyana 6 Posted July 3, 2016 I don't know if you hit your answer orbit but it's a BMI of 55 and over to have no 6 month or Health issues. Sorry for the late response but haven't been on in a while. Do you mean that if I have health issues I don't need the 6 months? I have sleep apnea that's been related to my weight.
