eoconnell24 30 Posted April 10, 2016 I have Anthem BCBS. There is no waiting period but you do have to have 6 months of medically supervised weight loss attempts within the last 2 years... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
sprite35 1 Posted April 12, 2016 I have Kaiser. I was required to take a 6 week class (last class is today). In 7-10 days I will get a call from the surgeons office to schedule my official consult and will schedule the surgery. I first went to see a nurse practitioner in the weight management and she approved me for the classes. So I guess I met the basic Kaiser requirements. pammieanne 269 Posted April 12, 2016 I have BCBS of TX. There was no waiting period, or supervised diet plans that I know of. Of course, I had plenty of documented weight loss attempts prior. You had to have a minimum BMI of 35 I think with 1 of the listed co morbidities, or a BMI of 40+ without any comorbidities.

Strange Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App It might not be required for my insurance and just a requirement of my surgeon? They have a huge program and think it's necessary for ppl to be successful to complete the program plus they don't want to risk insurance denying it so they come at them with all kinds of documentation lol Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App
KristenLe 5,979 Posted April 14, 2016 They all vary...even among the Carrier (i.e. BCBS) there are several different plans. Some don't cover WLS at all.
