kcthegreat 2 Posted April 11, 2016 I had RNY on 3/30 at first I was getting all of my Protein and a really good amount of Water maybe 55ozs instead of the 64 but doing my best now that I'm almost 2 weeks I am struggling the Protein gags me and the Water being room temperature is bugging me. I still have a few days before I can try soft foods or having anything warm or cool. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

mistycal 81 Posted April 11, 2016 I'm close to 6 weeks out and my plan didn't call for any Protein on my 1st week of clear diet either... I started drinking Protein Drinks during my 2nd week in full liquids, I don't think it's the norm however.... My energy has been fine, I do wonder about the whole Hair loss thing though! Praying for the best!!

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I was given protein supplements (ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates) in the hospital. My surgeon expected me to meet my protein target of 100 grams a day right away. Starting two days after surgery I was able to do so. I was allowed a couple of exceptions during the clear phase (namely Premier Protein and a couple of ProtiDiet Soups by my surgeon). According to my surgeon, getting enough protein is critical for healing in addition to the weight loss. Sipping protein and fluids, and walking were my primary focus in the first 10 days after surgery. Getting it all in is a full time job but worth it. I had a great recovery and am very happy with my progress so far.

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I wasn't told to take any Protein Shakes at all, especially not in the beginning, and I haven't been experiencing any hair loss. I just took what I could keep down, mainly milk at the time, and then eventually I moved onto protein milkshakes and other things. I don't honestly think there's a hard and fast rule about any of this - every surgeon and Nut is going to say something different, and everyone's journey will be different. Don't freak out - you're gonna be fine! just do what feels right to you, trust your instincts.
