When can I go back to taking capsules?

Recommended Posts

I am almost 30 days out and I want to resume taking my supplements. They are in capsule form. OK to do this?

I could not take capsules till my 9th week. If your "supplements" are your Vitamins though you cannot wait that long and need to cough up the cash to get liquid vitamins and/or chewables. Bariatric Advantage has a good selection of chewables. Good luck !

I've been taking my omeprazole capsules since I got home from the hospital. How big are yours? It kind of depends on how things are going for you and swallowing, really.

I was taking capsules on my last day in the hospital, however, they were painkillers.

Supplement wise, been taking vit B12 spray, and BN Multi chewable soon after coming home from the Sleeve op.

I started my vit D3 small capsules in week 3, larger Calcium/Magnesium at the same time.

I can obviously only speak for myself. I haven't had any issues.

Also, I was advised re Omega 3s, Krill oil, vit E, and anything that thins out the blood, to hold off until after 30 days.

I was however on nightly self injections of an anti-coagulant ..... for at least 5-7 days post op ....

I would ask my Surgeon, Dietician, and also test it slowly what agrees/doesn't agree with me.

I also have to take my Thyroid med, it is a tablet, but it is very small.

I am on so many supplements for my thyroid disease, as well as the Sleeve supplements.< /p>

Good luck with your recovery

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
