Hi guys,

Not sure if I should post this in this part of the form or not.

I'm just over a year out of surgery, and have lost approx 36 kilos... (If the scales are right, just moved so waiting on my aria to arrive)

However I still feel like I'm big like before hand, logically I know that's not true but I'm thinking it's because I'm not toned- so still have a little tummy etc

The photos attached are my before and afters...

What kind of exercises are/did people do that helped with toning and slimming the fat on their legs and stomach areas?

Would appreciate the help :)

Cheers,

Congratulations on your weight loss. You look great!

My favorite kind of exercise is swimming. I swim laps and do Water aerobics, Water weights, etc. Exercising in the water is great because it's easy on the joints and the water provides lots of resistance.

Cardio is always good, but if you really want to tone, then you need to weight train. And don't worry about the myth that you will get bulky. That is actually very, very difficult to do. There are good books out there, or if you can, getting a trainer is a good way to go if you can afford it. Hit the gym, or get resistance bands, or do workouts using your own body weight. There is lots of info on the Internet! Great job on your weight loss success!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
