carlissa_RN 62 Posted April 9, 2016 Hello all! I have been lurking in the background here for awhile now. I am 45 years old, 5'4 and weigh 235 pounds and have decided to take the plunge. I just had my first visit with my surgeon 1 week ago and had the work up and visit with nutritionist Wednesday....my BMI is 40.3 with slightly elevated HTN, A1C of 6.1 and high cholesterol. I am an RN and very excited to get this process started to healthier new me. I have a tentative date of 4/27, pending insurance approval but I already know they will approve it. My surgeon does not require any weight loss prior to surgery and there is only 1 visit with social worker and nutritionist required for auth. I'm seeing so many on here have had to jump through hoops and do all this stuff prior to surgery. Is there anyone else who had a fast, easy pre surgical experience as I am having? Looking forward to making new buddies. Carlissa P.S. Sorry for the double post, I can't get into the previous account that I made on Tapatalk so I made a new account on the iPhone app and am starting this over. Lol. Sirmikael 59 Posted April 9, 2016 I'm having to go through the hoops myself, but I'm actually happy about it. I'm getting practice and learning new habits before the surgery.

carlissa_RN 62 Posted April 9, 2016 Oh wow, I don't have to endo or colonoscopy. I'm surprised. Wow. No sleep study either. Where are you from? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Jenny Thom 25 Posted April 9, 2016 NY area. My MDs are very thorough. I have HTN and my BMI is high so they just want to make sure I am well enough to do the sleeve. So far so good. I don't mind the process.

VSGButterfly404 29 Posted April 10, 2016 Wow, you're lucky to progress faster than most with insurance! My surgery is a couple days before yours and I have a week of pre op liquid diet starting next Saturday. kaitlynm 335 Posted April 10, 2016 Mine was pretty fast, but not quite as quick as yours. I just had to have one visit with the Nut, a psyche eval, and some kind of blood test to see if I had any infection in my stomach. Then a final prep appt with the surgeon. No real pre op diet, just nothing after midnight the night before. It took about 6 weeks to get the apps scheduled. Good Luck!
carlissa_RN 62 Posted April 10, 2016 Sounds the same for me too @@kaitlynm Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

jmart_RN 18 Posted May 26, 2016 Hi carlissa. I am also an RN. Other than a psychologist consult for insurance requirements, I did not have difficulty getting approval for surgery. My surgeon required just one week of liquid diet prior to surgery but no weight loss required. I had a band to sleeve revision on April 4. I'm 5'3 and my pre-surgery weight was 255. As of today I weigh 221. My only struggle is trying to get the required amount of Water intake on the nights that I work. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. I'm excited for you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Thank you. I was sleeved May 27th. I'm 4 days out and have el zippo energy. I called my doctor today and he said I could have small sips of my Protein shake, which seemed to help a tad. I also have been running a low grade temp, 99.6 at night. Inflammatory process?? Pain to the left of my naval with moving, to wishing or bending but not when I'm still. Seeing my surgeon tomorrow.
