There are more options than shakes on full liquids. What about Soup? V8?

talk to your NUT. my swelling went down quickly and I was ready - spoke to my team and the asked me some questions about symptoms and cleared me to start a few days early.

True but they want 70g of Protein daily. That definitely limits Soups.< /p>

Everyone's program is different but I was on puréed the day I went home from the hospital. I only was on liquids for one day and even then they gave me meds crushed in applesauce while in the hospital. Check with your dr or nut.

I just boiled carrots, celery, onion, zucchini and ginger until mushy. Then I liquified them. I let that cook down to a nice bisque texture. I let it cool some and added unflavored pro turn powder. It tastes amazing and it's got Protein. Thanks for all the suggestions!

You can take what you just cooked (try a crock pot next time) and add nutritional yeast to it. It adds a "cheesy/bready (is "bready" a real word ? :) ) when mixed in. 2 TLBSP add 7-8 gr of Protein for only 40-45 cal.

"Try it--you'll like it!"

It sounds like you got this! BUT: wouldn't hurt to run it by your nutritionist, would it???? :)

Might I recommend "Bone Broth" and "Bone Stock" chicken and turkey flavors at whole foods pack 9-14g of Protein per 8oz. I started purées on a very thinned out yellow squash and/or zucchini blended with twice as much of this broth. I would start there and if you tolerate well you can always add a scoop of unflavored Protein Powder.

Of course sautéed the squash within an inch of its life first;-)

I would be afraid to try it! My nutritionist stressed the importance of following the phases to the letter so that the stomach can properly heal. But it really depends on how the first useful spoonfuls sit in your stomach. Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
