I've lost 70 pounds and my upper arms are a little jiggly, a little extra skin on my stomach, and a little bit of loose skin on my inner thighs. Not too bad. I've been using weights for the past couple of months and it has gotten better. I use a lot of firming lotion, which I don't know if it's helping, but I'll keep using it.

It just all depends on certain things. How much weight is lost, your age, whether you do resistance/strength training to help minimize it. Some skin once stretched to capacity just won't snap back no matter what. That's the chance you take with large weight losses.

I'm kinda old (48), and I lost about 96ish pounds and my skin is minimal. I've done resistance training since I was released to do so and I'm almost 20 months out. You can see my arms aren't bad, but my stomach is a different story. I was actually told by a plastic surgeon yesterday that no amount of exercise will help certain areas, and my pannus is one of them. For now, I hide it well with Spanx ;) I also have some on my inner thighs, but it doesn't bother me too much. My bikini days are over anyway.

PS I never actually wore a bikini :P

there is an article in this month's Shape magazine (almost at the back) about foods that encourage healthy skin and not saggy. might be worth checking out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
