Normal? I wouldn't call post op nausea "normal", but it certainly is not uncommon. I'm somewhat surprised that you did not come home with a RX for nausea from the hospital.

So, what to do? In the morning, please call your bariatric team and let them "fix" your nausea. Early post op is difficult enough without being nauseous. Yuck !

For tonight, I would sip on some flat diet ginger ale. Ginger will help settle the gut. Just be sure the bubbles are gone. (my non professional suggestion)

Feel better and please post and let us know what your team did to help you.

Prayers going up for you.

I would call it 100 % normal. I was on zofran for three - four weeks post op. Your stomach was just cut in half. It will take about 12 weeks for it to heal. And I was also on phenergan in hospital. Phenergan by iv in hospital was wonderful. By mouth not so much. Zofran makes a tablet that dissolves in liquid. That was the first sip I took every morning. Couldn't stomach anything else without it. Definitely call the doc and set yourself up. I also had a scopolamine patch behind my ear as well. Good luck.

Very normal. Call your doctor to get some medicine no need to suffer!

Are you taking pain pills or other crushed meds? That could certainly attribute to it. I am off pain meds now (6 days post op) but anytime I took a pain pill I made sure I had taken a zofran first. Doc sent me home with that and phenegrune.

I am just curious re your being sent home with Phenergan, as well.

I have really bad hay fever and runny nose at times (curtesy of my thyroid), plus I read somewhere that WLS can also aggravate the runny nose post op

I get this anti-histamine over the counter, ever since my thyroid issues started.

It also helps me with sleep, as it is very sedating.

I remember bracing my stomach when I felt a sneeze or cough coming on, early post op.

Is this why Phenergan was given to you? Sorry for being bit nosey, just anything to do with runny nose is very interesting to me, as I still battle it daily ...... :(

My prescribed nose sprays don't help at all.

@krakow maybe I spelled it incorrectly? It's for nausea, not allergies.

It's pretty strong. I asked for it because I have insomnia and it helps you sleep. But it drugs the hell out of me so I can't take it - I've just been doing chewable Benadryl.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
