Head Hunger... Aghhhh!

Recommended Posts

:help:Hello all,

I'm back....

Here's my question. The weight loss is not the problem, it's the mental game. I am down 65 lbs in 16 weeks. I can not get over such small meal sizes. I fight myself in my head.

Tonight I had 3oz of scallops, 1 oz of sundried Tomato and mushrooms and 1/2 oz of Pasta (aka: a fork full)

Any thoughts... did or is any one cope with this?

Thanks Pat

As per my other post of earlier; I deal with this on two angles. First being, how in the world is that tiny amount of food going to/or possibly is satifying to me???? That’s just some days. Secondly, how in the world can I possibly eat so much with a band around my belly? That's the other days. I'm not quite yet at the happy medium.

Pat: YOU ARE KICKING ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Next time at the buffet look around at the skinny people....... they are not sucking down 5 plates.. they are eating a NORMAL amount... you are just eating like a NORMAL sized person and soon you will be. (at least this is the conversation I have with myself every night) :)

Head hunger? That's my middle name. I am not hungry most of the time but just want to eat. I start having these cravings and can't stop thinking about them. And I want to eat huge portions, pig out really. This has happened every time I tried to lose weight. Good thing I have the band now to help me with my overwhelming impulses!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
