Hello all, so just a quick background - I am 5 ft 4 inches, female, 25 years old. My pre op weight was 240, my weight day of surgery was 233 and now I am 218 (surgery date was 3/28/16). I am planning on meeting someone for the first time (kinda like a long distance relationship- long story) in July/August of this year. I understand weight is a number, and everyone's body is different, including bone structure, etc. But from past experiences and those who are already 5+ months post op, how realistic would it be to set my goal to be 170 by that time. I am feeling great, and am ready to get back to the gym as soon as my doc gives me the approval (i was fairly active pre-op as well). Please do not lecture me about asking this question, I understand it will all come off in time, and that I need to be healthy, etc.. I am simply just asking for others experiences, and those with similar height/weight if you think this is doable or an unrealistic goal. Thanks!

I'm a little taller than you (5'6") but my surgery weight was very close to yours. I weighed 236 the day of surgery and it took me almost 8 months to get to 170. Surgery date was Sept. 1, 2014 and I weighed 170.5 on April 27, 2015.

I'm 5 ft 3 inches. My weight the day of surgery was 233. I had surgery on January 26, 2016. I am now 184. I definitely think you can do it! Good luck!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
