achappex3 346 Posted April 7, 2016 These 6 months feel like they're going to take forever. Everyone seems to be getting their surgery in the near future... And then there's me... Pushing November. I'm sad!!! Anybody getting theirs around the end of the year at some point? Here's to hoping these 6 months fly by and are full of growth and change to prepare for the rest of my new life! Donna415 47 Posted April 7, 2016 I will be lucky if mine is in September. I just had my first of six weight checks on March 30th, next one scheduled for April 25th (I think). It does seem like it will go quickly though. I meet again with my surgeon, dietician, and psychologist in May so I'm hoping it moves fast but to us, I know it seems like forever. achappex3 346 Posted April 7, 2016 @@Donna415 I should have it in October, but because I couldn't meet with the dietician in April it pushed everything back a month. Kind of sucks! I want it to happen and keep looking stuff up. It makes me want it more. Lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Donna415 47 Posted April 7, 2016 I know the feeling for sure!! Mine hasn't been pushed but I feel like by the end, with all the information I've read, I'll be an expert lol. mngreeneyes 674 Posted April 7, 2016 I had to wait nearly 6 months for all my boxes to be checked so I could have surgery. There were times when I thought it was going SO slowly. Then suddenly I had approval and two weeks later I was in the operating room and then waking up from surgery asking if they really did surgery! Focus on the journey, not the surgery. I found that when I focused on each step along the way instead of the end goal, time went faster. Every time I thought about how long it was until surgery, I would get frustrated about how long I still had to wait. When I focused on each new thing I was to learn to get ready, it was in much more manageable bites! You can do it! pam

spdmonkeymama 36 Posted April 7, 2016 It looks like I will be an October surgery because it took forever to get an insurance quote. I sent in all my paperwork on August 16th 2015. I was hoping to have surgery within 1 year but a family vacation this year is in September so I asked if I could push it to October. My surgeon told me more than likely it will be at least October. achappex3 346 Posted April 7, 2016 @@spdmonkeymama oh wow that did take a minute! Well looks/seems like we will at least have each other through this journey! What had you set on bypass? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
spdmonkeymama 36 Posted April 7, 2016 I have around 200 to lose and when I did my research by the numbers it seemed the rny was the best option. I still haven't gotten the all clear from my shrink because one of the meds I'm on has serious issues with dosing. If he can switch my drugs (which that is our goal anyways I am weaning off that med) I get the bypass otherwise the surgeon says sleeve. spdmonkeymama 36 Posted April 7, 2016 I am a little nervous though. My father in law had rny and regained ALOT. He also didn't follow the diet exactly right and doesn't have the follow up support that's available now Sent from my SGH-M919 using the BariatricPal App
achappex3 346 Posted April 7, 2016 @@spdmonkeymama from what I can tell regain can happen with any surgery. It just depends on the person. I'm trying my hardest to go into this thinking and knowing that I will never be this person again. I have about just as much weight to lose. It may not mean much but I'm always here and willing to listen! I need that myself. Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
