Well lucky me then.

I am assuming that once i start solids i will have more restriction?

Definitely lucky @

I was similarly fortunate...

Take full advantage of the situation...

And enjoy the restriction!!!

I still struggle with more than half to 3/4 of a cup at 14 months out (on Monday)...

Hey Aussiegirl, did you say you are 2 DAYS post op and eating pureed food? My Dr had me on liquid only for 2 weeks, pureed for two weeks (which is where I am now) then I have mashed for 2 weeks prior to soft solids. All this so the stomach has time to heal. I also have had a fairly smooth run. Good luck to you but confirm with your medical team that you can have pureed 2 days out please?

Hey Slyvie, i had the hunger and puree definately helps. I am surprised at how much i can eat but it is still tiny compared to what i am used to.

Does the feeling go away after you eat or is it still there?

I had an uncomfortable 'empty' feeling for the first month which I thought could be hunger, but I realised eating wasn't helping it much either. Later I realised it was reflux and started medication. I don't have that feeling anymore.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
