I had my 2-week Post Op check up today!

Recommended Posts

I had my check up today. All is well. I've, since my surgery on March 21st, 2016, have lost 20 lbs. So far so good. She approved me for soy foods. I tried a little bit they're making me feel nauteous. How do you fight beyond that in order to start eating food? I feel better with Water but I cannot live in that alone. I tried to drink a Premier Protein drink on yesterday but it made me nauteous as well. Any suggestions or advice? **PLEASE RESPOND!!**

keep trying different Protein Shakes, its very tough in the early stages to find things you like and can tolerate. for me it was vanilla premiere shakes it had to be ice cold. now i cant stand vanilla and prefer the chocolate. again the colder the better. i also like cottage cheese and its packed with Protein. i am 4 months out and can tolerate pretty much anything. i couldnt say that at 1 month out. its trial and error in the beginning. good luck

On The Fence 2- Thanks for that. This really helps. This is my first day eating food. I will take it really slow right now. I REALLY have to get the hang of it. It feels like everything I try to eat stops mid-point between my chest. I hope that stops.

Have you tried cream of wheat or items that type of texture. I like Syntrax nector Protein Drinks. They taste like crystal light rather than milk. They are 100% Protein with no carbs or fat. I do like them (and all liquids) really cold. I mix them and then keep them in the fridge for a few hours.

I had my 3 month post op today, all is good. I can tell you the food/drink you can't tolerate this week may be ok in a few weeks. My doctors have a gradual week by week diet of foods to add back, and it all seemed to be very gradual increases in texture and thickness.

I didn't think I would like cottage cheese (name and texture thing) but its not bad and was way easy on my stomach. I actually ate it as a kid, but stopped until after my sleeve.

Agree that trying different Protein shakes is key but don't write them off totally if you can't hold one down now. The premier shakes are huge Protein boosts and worth sampling later, or breaking up through a day to get your protein. I was always ok with that brand so I haven't tried to many others

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
