Just wanted to chime in.... Got banded in 2010 and it was a 6 year pain. Just issue after issue and marginal weight loss. I felt like such a fool going through all the hoops of having wls just for it not to work and I WORKED IT. Anyway I went for a fill and my doctor said "it's broke. Done". After freaking out for a moment he said it was no big deal at all, he would remove it and convert to a sleeve. And he did, within a month!!!! He had a hard time getting it out because it was all scar tissue and as a result I have a smaller pouch but I think that's a good thing!!!! And I've already lost more in the week I've had it than I lost with band- what does that tell you? And i feel awesome. Walking dog, running errands, weeding. I'm so glad that plastic is out of me... Can't tell you. You have really been incredibly impressive with all the homework you have been doing- wish I would have done the same. And it's hard to stand up to doctors sometimes- good for you for staying strong. You are well informed and seem prepared mentally. You have so got this girl!!!!!!!!!!!!! XOXOX

Thank you!! I started this journey back in 2014 after trying yet again to diet with little success. I had a few friends that had done it or were about to and that's when I started to look into it. I wanted the band, it seemed the easiest thing. But after my PCP told me sleeve, I started looking there. It's been so helpful reading all of the stories from you guys. I definitely don't think the band is for me. Haven't told my surgeon yet, I see him on the 3rd, but my mind is completely made up.

Welcome! I am new, too, and went through the same kinds of questions. No doubts for me about it, I will go with sleeve. Many people do well with the band, but my surgeon doesn't do them any more due to problems. I have also heard that reflux is a contra-indication for bands. Best of luck and welcome!

Thank you. I have heard from like every other person that their surgeon rarely if ever performs the band. So that was a big factor as well.

I have had the band for 9 years and am scheduled to have revision to bypass in 2 weeks (omg!) I cannot weight to get it removed and I would also not recommend anyone getting it. Yes some people were successful with it and love it but it seems most are not, I was never a fan of having foreign item in my body but I was too scared to go with bypass the first time around, I wish I did though. The decision is yours but I would not go with band.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
