Ccccccccold!

Recommended Posts

I know this has been discussed before ...

But DANG with always being cold!

Saturday night hubby and I went to the dirt track races ... it was in the 40's ... I swear to God it took me 2 days to warm up! I was chilled to my bone marrow I swear ...

Every single day I wear my coat at work ... WITH my heater on ... and my toes are still cold ... along with my fingers ...

Geesh!

Who knew ( I mean obviously someone knew ) ... That our extra weight actually kept us THAT warm!

Like I said ... I know we've all discussed this before ... But I had to get this off my chest ... again.

I was always cold even when I was fat. Now it's worse! Leave my space heater running under my desk all day long at work. Stay under a blanket at home. Wear my coat or a hoodie at restaurants and movies. I feel like I'm never warm.

I've actually spent time scouring the internet for ideas on how to keep my fingers from turning purple while I use my keyboard and mouse at work... any gloves thin enough to type with wouldn't be warm enough. :(

ive seen gloves that have little hats on them ... you can flip them over and button them to the back of your hand so you can use your finger tips to type, etc ..

I actually ALMOST bought a pair ... they looked pretty snug on the hands as to not interfere with the keys ...

Sounds like whoever invented them ... will be rich from us bariatric patients! :)

My key to warmth is layers. I always wear a tight tank top, no matter the temperature. When it's cool, I layer on CuddleDuds. Look them up! They have three thicknesses to choose from and when it's really cold, I wear two sets under my jeans and sweater. If my core is warm, and I'm wearing socks, my hands don't go numb.

Hell. At least I'm thin enough to wear layers under my jeans!!

@LipstickLady I never heard of a Cuddle Dud ... That is on my Amazon list of things to check out ...

Thank you for the hint !! :)

Maaaaybe... I should buy bigger shoes and wear 3 pairs of socks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
