Ok is this normal? My vsg is in less then 12 hours and I am scared to death I am trying to sleep and all I can think is I need to hug my kids and make arrangements in case I don't wake up from surgery.

F**k yes it's normal!!

Your entire life is about to change!!!

It matters not whether change is for better or for worse...

It's still change..

Therefore, it still SUX!!!

Do what you gotta do to alleviate the fears...

Hug your kids...

Kiss the dog...

Pull the cat's tail.. (Stoooopid cat!!)

Leave the milkman a letter stating your undying love for him and his sweet, sweet goodness......

Whatever you gotta do..

It's Sleeve Eve!!!

It's just like New Year's only 87.49 billion times better!!!

You're allowed to be twitchy and s**t...

You'll be fine I reckon...

You've too much to live for to let anything screw this up...

Now go send some weird text messages to random phone numbers then get some sleep...

You've a big day tomorrow...

Good luck. Don't be scared. Use that negative energy being excited. What you are about to do is just the best. Your kids are going to have a much fitter mum, you are going to start a new chapter in your life and all that excess flab that you have been carting round for years will at long last go where it belongs-down the loo!!!!!! Exactly where useless crap belongs!

I'm just over five months down the line from my surgery and although I can be a miserable, grumpy old git, the majority of the time I am walking around grinning like a complete idiot because each day there are so many exciting opportunities opening up for the slimmer me. Just simple things but big for me. Just wish I'd had my surgery years ago.

Go for it girl x

Oh no!! You'll be fine!! I'm the queen of surgery!! I've had 8 surgeries in just a few years and it is scary but it's useless to worry about. You need rest so the surgery will go great and you'll be better soon!!

Good luck!!

You've seriously got this!! Chin up, soldier. Fear is normal. What makes you different is that you are choosing to take action WHILE being afraid. Not many humans experience the joy of that. You can do this!

I feel the same. I have 24 hours til my surgery and I feel like I shouldn't do it, ever since I watched a RNY being done on YouTube ????. I'm like what if I die later from internal bleeding or something.

Totally normal. If you want to, tell the nurses you're scared. Most likely they will be VERY reassuring. They've seen it all and know how to handle scared patients.

Please don't think like that. Everything will be fine. Just pray and ask God to protect you and he will.. I'm having surgery. On Thursday the 14th. Although I might be a little nervous but I'm believing that everything will be fine..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
