denniso 0 Posted April 5, 2016 Has anyone used their super for gastric bypass ? If so who did you use and what was covered or out of pocket costs ? I really don't want to wait 12 months
sallo 56 Posted April 5, 2016 Hi Dennis, I was approved for early release of super for compassionate reasons. I had to have my surgeon & GP fill out an application from the Dept of Human Services. It was a relatively straight forward process. I also had the appropriate level of hospital cover through Bupa and waited the 12 months. My surgery was around $5500 all up, but it would have been 11 or 13 grand if I had no cover (I think...sorry my memory is sketchy). I would recommend waiting the 12 months so you can save some of your money. Give me a bell if you have any further questions. I'm from SA & had my GB on Feb 10. eclecticwingtips 130 Posted April 5, 2016 (edited) I didnt want to wait 12 months either but i focused on the fact that this is a journey and used that time to work on my reasons for eating, learning about the surgeries, pre op, post op and everything in between and building my fitness. Im glad ive done it this way as i feel im really ready for this surgery and i feel like ive worked for it. I like the US approach in some ways with the supervised diets etc and feel that we could benefit from that here in australia Edited April 5, 2016 by eclecticwingtips
