2 grams of Protein for 30 calories doesn't seem like much of a bargain. A serving of Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt is only 80 calories and gives you 12 grams of protein. Heck, a quarter cup of Halo Top ice cream is 30 calories and gives you 3 grams of protein and it's ice cream!

It's tough with text. It's hard to know the intent. Hey shortstuff4ever78, I didn't think JamieLogical was trying to knock you down. I think they may have been trying to put it in perspective. When you posted the counts, the first thing that ran through my head was, "Are those numbers good?" I am newly sleeved too - March 16th and I do think what to eat has been a challenge. Your points about ice cream's fat and sugar was helpful and points out it's not all about certain numbers, but looking at the whole.

I get helpful information from almost every post and got some from both you and JamieLogical.

Thanks.

Definitely not intending to knock anyone down. I would just hope that everyone closely examines how a food like that would fit I to THEIR plan. I was told by my nutritionist to try to get up to 100 grams of Protein as quickly as possible post-op, so I was always looking for "protein bargains", because I could eat so little food, I really needed to make sure the food I ate was pushing me toward that daily protein goal. To me, the calorie to protein ratio on the food you mentioned didn't fit that bill. If others can work it into their daily totals, more power to them!

Feel free to start a post called "protein bargains" ;)

Hypothetically speaking, if a fly was to get WLS, would that still hold true?

:)

Hahaha! That gave me a great visual of an obese fly that couldn't even manage to lift itself off the ground. ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
