How long do you have to crush your pills?

Recommended Posts

Never crushed pills. I stopped taking chewable vitamins and switch back to the Vitamins I took pre-surgery about 2 months ago.

Never crushed pills. I was allowed to swallow small pills immediately and larger whole pills at 7 days post-op.

@Phillygirl_in_DE I crushed mine for the 1st 6 weeks ... They actually worked better crushed!

I was advised to do that because the liquid form of the medication was 3 times the cost and hard to find ... and the actual pill itself was a horse pill ... if you know what I mean ...

I didn't mind crushing .... I'd mix the power in a Nyquil cup with a little bit of Water and stir with a drink stirrer and down the hatch ...

Only part was carrying all those things with me all the time ...

9 month out now ... that time seems so long ago ...

1 week is all I could handle. The dr said I should crush them for 1 month but the taste was unbearable.

I crushed my pills for about 6 months. I take a lot of pills 3 times a day. I wasn't told to crush them for 6 months. That was my choice. Most of my pills are prescription pills so I can't get them in chewable form. I would crush them & put the powder in juice & stir it up & swallow!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
