Ok so what happens after the last visit? Do you wait to turn everything in then, does it take awhile for ins to approve? I know ins can take 30 days but do they? How does everyone get there dates before there done?

After my last visit, my bariatric coordinator sent everything to insurance for approval. It took two days for my Cigna PPO insurance to get the information on file. I was approved on day 4. My surgery was scheduled after the approval for the following week.

I am not sure how people get scheduled before the approval but if it works for the office then that's great.

I wish I could get a date early however I don't think the hospital I go to does that or the dr anyway. Thank you @@Momwith3minions

Wow Betterme38! We are on the exact same track! My 5th visit is also next week (4/11) and then the last one in May. All my pre-op testing is done. I'm getting SO excited!!

I've finished all my pre-ops, just waiting for my PCP to send my paperwork to the surgeon so they can submit. So much waiting and phone calls with no one calling back. Going on 3 weeks and counting..

I would be on them too! My surgeon won't schedule until my insurance approves so I won't have a date until the very last minute. It's killing me!!

I can't really demand anything either because I have my last visit in May but I have to pinpoint a date so I can plan for time off etc. From what I've been reading BCBS is pretty fast so I'm hoping for a late May surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
