4 months of weight watchers already....

Recommended Posts

Hello I have a question.

I already have 4 months of weight watchers with unsuccessful weight loss when I meet with the surgeon soon will that count towards my 6 month supervised or will I have to start all over?

I'm really hoping that I only do the remaining 2 months.

Both my insurance and surgeon said that the 6 months has to be under a doctor's supervision and needs to be extremely well documented. Sorry!

I was able to print out my journals and take them to my doctor. She looked over them and signed off on them.

Nope-- mine was proof of previous weight loss programs (that is where the WW print outs will come in handy) and then 6 months supervised by a Doctor. My doctor had to be a center for excellence, which meant that I had to do it at bariatric center's office

@@cookiefierce - I was allowed to use my WW info along with an Endo's info that I had also seen for about 2 years prior. I think it totally depends on your insurance. Call and find out -

Depends on your surgeon and insurance. My insurance doesn't require any supervised diet, but my surgeon does. I had to have a failed dieting history AND three months supervised by his office or my PCP. WW counted for the failed history, but not for the supervised diet.

My Weight Watchers documentation did not count because my insurance plan clearly stated it had to be a "physician-supervised" weight-loss program. Like others have said, even some surgeons want you on their programs for a certain number of weeks/months, independent of what your insurance company may or may not require.

Good luck with everything, and don't be discouraged if you've got to go through the full 6 months- use that time to learn as much as you can and change as many of your habits as you can (I had a really hard time getting the hang of the no drinking while eating rule) during that time. It seems like forever, but it will fly by!

For BCBS, it HAD to be, as I believe most that require this, HAD to be consecutive months. As my surgeon's office told us during the initial nutritional general class, they really want it monthly. If your weight loss visit was every month on the 10th, but on month 3, your visit was on day 4, that wouldn't have been accepted and you'd have to start the clock again. So dumb, but I guess some insurance companies are super anal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
