autymn 27 Posted April 9, 2016 I started July 2015 and had my surgery 3/29. My insurance required monthly appointments with my regular doctor that spanned at least 180 days. I also had to see a psychologist and nutritionist. After I was approved, I had to go to a nutrition class, nursing class, and a support group meeting. After my 6-7 months of appointments, my insurance approval took less than a week. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
cdeisroth 420 Posted April 9, 2016 My insurance did not require a 6 month wait. I had my first consult on 1/29/16 and had my surgery on 3/14/16. In that time I had to have 2 psych consults, 3 nutritionist visits, 1 pcp visit, an upper endoscopy, a sleep study, and a breathing test with a pulmanologist. _bribri1001 62 Posted April 9, 2016 My insurance is requiring 3 months of weight loss management. I attended my seminar back in February and scheduled for my 1st initial appointment April 18. Hoping and praying for an August Surgery. Hopefully it will all go by fast. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Elle09 157 Posted April 16, 2016 My insurance required 3 months supervised weight management. I had my first consult 12/24/15 with the nutritionist. During that time I had 3 nutritional visits, 1 psych consult, upper endoscopy, sleep study, cardiologist clearance, abdominal ultrasound, chest X-rays and medical clearance from pcp. My paperwork was submitted to insurance on 24 Mar 2016 and found out I was approved 5 April 2016! My surgery is scheduled 28 April 2016 so I am on the 4th day of the required liquid pre-op diet. ironpoorer 88 Posted April 18, 2016 (edited) I went to a few seminars at various doctors, starting in late summer 2015. My first visit with my would be surgeon was in October, I had an EGD test November 1 , And ended up having surgery on December 28 following a two-week pre-op diet and a two week liquid liver reduction diet; I was a self pay case as my insurance would only pay a small portion, I went with the hiatal hernia program that the doctor offered Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Edited April 18, 2016 by ironpoorer
