Having a rough day

Recommended Posts

I just need to vent and so this might not be completely coherent. I know that much of what I am venting about has all been said before, as well, so my apologies, but you guys are the only ones who understand.

I was sleeved on March 14. I have been on full fluids since March 16 and won't move to soft food until my one month appointment with the Nurse Practitioner and Dietitian.

I am so sick of yogurt, cottage cheese, oatmeal, Gelatin, pudding, and creamed Soup. I am okay with Protein shakes. Tomorrow will mark 4 weeks of this and I have another 11 days to go. It is to the point that I have no desire to eat at all, if I could, I would spend the next 11 days with Protein drinks alone. I won't, but honestly, eating has become a chore, something I dread.

I have been following my meal program as I should. I am supposed to get 60-80 Protein, 2 litres of Water and have 900-1200 calories. I am within those targets. The scale stopped moving 1.5 weeks after surgery. My surgery weight was 297 lbs and I have been stuck at 286 since March 24. I know that I am still healing and such and I know that I should chuck the scale, but it has been disheartening. I started back on my recumbent bike last Monday, hoping that would jump the metabolism, but no such luck.

I know things will start moving along again, I am just feeling particularly frustrated today.

Thanks for "listening".

Cheers,

Roxanne

Totally know the feeling!!!

Sounds like you need a different flavor profile. Enough with the dairy foods!! Try some salsa or baked Beans, hummus, or something tangy/salty... What about one of those green smoothies? Maybe you are craving something vegetable based?

What are you craving?

Just hang in there, and stay positive. I had my sleeve done last Tuesday and I'm on Clear liquids for 14 days and I sick of it too.....

Just follow the daily requirements for Protein, fluids and Vitamins. food is secondary because your body is converting stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight. Be a little patient and then let the magic happen.

Unfortunately with my full fluids, Beans are not yet allowed. Basically, what I listed is what I can have. Blech.

I am honestly not craving anything. I have no desire to eat at all

Do you have to eat? If it repulses you so, why don't you just stick with the Protein Shakes until YOU are ready to eat?

Maybe you're just not ready to eat yet. Everyone is different. Why not call your surgeon's office/nutritionist's office and ask.

It's worth a call if doing so will possibly make these first few weeks easier.

Feel better and let us know, please.

Thanks for the support and suggestions, everyone. I contacted my dietician and I am to stick with the plan for now. I have been feeling better about it all since Sunday.

I had my surgery the week before Thanksgiving. I discovered and was delighted to find that Swanson's chicken broth tastes an awful lot like stuffing. My mom always makes her stuffing with Swansons. It made watching everyone else eat Thanksgiving dinner more tolerable. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
