spunkywoman 1 Posted August 10, 2007 You want the doctor to be able to feel the port so he can fill it.......then you don't need the floroscope........ I have a hernia that is hitting my port. If insurance co-operates it will be repaired on august 20........I can't wait spunky
peggy1011 0 Posted August 10, 2007 I can feel mine, but cant "see" it. I have a friend who lost a lot weight with the band, and is down to a size 6. She says hers is visible now, if she wears something slinky. Her solution: a small piece of duct tape over it, to hold it flatter against her tummy. DRIVER 0 Posted August 11, 2007 SD Chic, I agree, that is one heck of a goal, to be so thin, you have to duct tape your port down! 307/238/190ish Banded 22 Mar 07 Dr Darren Minkin Des Peres Hospital St.Louis Mo. I'M WITH THE BAND
homew6kids 0 Posted August 12, 2007 Just curious - How do they replace the port?
Chickie 15 Posted August 12, 2007 I would imagine that to replace the port, another surgery would be required. Perhaps they could do it with a local? I don't know... I do know that a lot of people who have tummy tucks have their ports replaced while the surgeon has them open. I didn't have my port replaced during my Tummy Tuck last year, and I had the larger "regular" port to start with, and at 107lbs, I cannot see the port. I can feel it, but it is well placed, and it cannot be seen, naked or clothed.
kacee 3 Posted August 12, 2007 I've lost just under half of what I have to lose and I can easily feel my port and when I lay on my back there is a slight hump just below and between my boobs. If I am telling my "band story" and want to gross someone out I will grab their hand and put it on my port. Funny thing tho...no one has been grossed out. They all kindof get wide-eyed and go "Wow!" kacee 3 Posted August 12, 2007 Mine is about the size of a 50 cent piece in diameter, maybe a little smaller... mine is very easy to feel standing up or sitting or lying. That's probably because I have practically zero belly fat, unlike most people, and when I lost my initial 30 pounds it ALL came off my stomach (which is nearly flat now....still being about 35 pounds over goal....go figure) so there really isn't anyplace for my port to hide anymore. Doesn't bother me though. It just is a tactile reminder that I have the band.
