You want the doctor to be able to feel the port so he can fill it.......then you don't need the floroscope........ I have a hernia that is hitting my port. If insurance co-operates it will be repaired on august 20........I can't wait

I can feel mine, but cant "see" it. I have a friend who lost a lot weight with the band, and is down to a size 6. She says hers is visible now, if she wears something slinky. Her solution: a small piece of duct tape over it, to hold it flatter against her tummy. :)

SD Chic,

I agree, that is one heck of a goal, to be so thin, you have to duct tape your port down!

Just curious - How do they replace the port?

I would imagine that to replace the port, another surgery would be required. Perhaps they could do it with a local? I don't know... I do know that a lot of people who have tummy tucks have their ports replaced while the surgeon has them open.

I didn't have my port replaced during my Tummy Tuck last year, and I had the larger "regular" port to start with, and at 107lbs, I cannot see the port. I can feel it, but it is well placed, and it cannot be seen, naked or clothed.

I've lost just under half of what I have to lose and I can easily feel my port and when I lay on my back there is a slight hump just below and between my boobs. If I am telling my "band story" and want to gross someone out I will grab their hand and put it on my port. Funny thing tho...no one has been grossed out. They all kindof get wide-eyed and go "Wow!"

Mine is about the size of a 50 cent piece in diameter, maybe a little smaller... mine is very easy to feel standing up or sitting or lying. That's probably because I have practically zero belly fat, unlike most people, and when I lost my initial 30 pounds it ALL came off my stomach (which is nearly flat now....still being about 35 pounds over goal....go figure) so there really isn't anyplace for my port to hide anymore. Doesn't bother me though. It just is a tactile reminder that I have the band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
